The foundation of armored transportation goes as far back as the motion of large freight. Traditionally, smaller valuables were transported into a more’cloak and dagger’ fashion. Carriers would attempt to fit in with other travellers so that they didn’t reveal the value of their cargo. This strategy does not work, however, when the precious cargo is big.

Many pieces of these early armored automobiles were made from vulnerable materials. Through the years, the substances utilized in armored transport have shifted from wood and glass to more lasting and bullet proof material. It is hardened by heat treatment or by the addition of chromium and nickel during creation. Windows are now made of thick plastic glass and bulletproof optical plastic.
